Leeds United calmed some early-season nerves on Saturday when they produced a solid performance to beat Wolves 3-1 at Molineux. The win took them to seven points from five games, and boosted their confidence for the race to beat the drop this year.
It was a day for the new summer signings to shine as three of Leeds’ three recruits came to the fore in the Black Country. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach and Noah Okafor scored the first goals for the club at Molineux in a scintillating first-half display.
Stach has been a consistent performer for Leeds since his arrival in the summer, and notched up a few firsts for a Whites player at Molineux when he scored from that sumptuous free-kick.
Okafor also proved some of his detractors wrong with a thrilling display, which was rounded off by a cool left-footed finish. However, it was Calvert-Lewin who silenced the naysayers in a big way with complete number 9’s performance.

Former Leeds star Jon Newsome admitted that when Leeds signed the former Everton striker on a free transfer in the summer, it was a huge gamble, but he feels it was a necessary gamble.
He stressed that a fit Calvert-Lewin is a £60m striker, and Leeds must do everything to ensure that he remains fit, which also includes sometimes taking him off early in games.
The former White insisted that Leeds’ biggest job is to keep him fit, as he will deliver when he is on the pitch.
“It’s a gamble by the club, but a gamble they had to take”, Newsome said on BBC Radio Leeds.
“A fit Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a £50m, £60m footballer. If you can get him firing, you have to wrap him in cotton wool, let him train when he’s able to.
“Let him rest and recoup. I think the club will do that. I would have liked to have seen him come off earlier, great goal, holds the ball up, intelligent runs, stretches the game.
“The biggest job is keeping him fit.”
