Daniel Farke’s future at Leeds United has been a topic discussed around the club since last season. A former Premier League club figure has warned the Whites over a potential new contract.

Farke guided this Leeds side to a 14th-placed finish last season, despite being heavy relegation favourites.

The club surprised everyone and managed to clinch their survival before the final day of the season.

After a summer of serious transfer business, Leeds are off to a great start this time around. The new signings have hit the ground running and Farke’s side are unbeaten in the Premier League.

This has increased calls for the German coach to be handed a new deal.

Daniel Farke has had to field many questions over his future. And multiple times this summer, he has declined to address it.

In the pre-match press conference this week, the Leeds United boss mentioned that he does not like his future being the topic every week. The club’s managing director Robbie Evans gave a positive update recently.

Stefan Borson, who served as financial advisor to Manchester City in the 2000s, thinks a new deal could disrupt the club’s form.

“It happens a lot with players where the performance in that year of negotiation is noticeably impressive,” he said speaking to Football Insider.

“They sign the new contract, and there’s a reversion to the mean. But clearly, given what’s happening on the pitch, he’s in brilliant position to negotiate, and that’s what he’s going to do.

“So they’re not going to want to rock the boat right now. I’m sure he’ll sign a new contract. They seem to have a bit of momentum, Leeds.

“I think if you look, there was a lot of confidence in that game against Newcastle. There just seems to be a bit of a buzz around how they’re playing and how they’re performing.

“That’s amazing for a manager to be having a negotiation whilst that’s the the context and I suspect they want to get that signed pretty quickly on the basis of that, and so will Leeds, so everybody’s happy.”

A new contract could have a positive effect on the club

Borson is warning that after a new contract, Leeds may start performing at their level and not as well as they have played in recent months.

But on the contrary, the Whites have built a very good team to challenge in the Premier League.

Giving Daniel Farke a new contract could have a very positive effect on the club. Players will be more stable knowing that the Leeds boss will be in charge for the long-term.

And this could even attract potential targets to make the switch to Elland Road.

The fans and the players will all get a huge boost knowing that Farke will be leading them to the next phase of the project.
