Leeds United fans have been wondering what business the club would start their transfer window with. Last year also saw a similar slow start to the summer, with most of the business happening in the middle of pre-season.
Before this past campaign ended, Daniel Farke urged the ownership to invest in signings.
Last year, over £100 million was spent in the summer window, bringing 10 players to Elland Road. A large part of those signings became starters in the first team as Leeds avoided relegation.
Sources at the club indicated that most business would happen after the World Cup.
This is because clubs with players at the tournament are willing to hang on and see if their value would rise before making any decisions.
Fabrizio Romano confirms Leeds United signing
Fortunately for Leeds United, their first signing of the summer transfer window has been confirmed.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the club have completed all formalities in the deal for Harry Wilson. Last week, The Athletic broke the news that an agreement had been reached and that Wilson was set for a medical.
Barring any last minute changes, the Welsh international will be the first signing of the summer for the Premier League club.
Per The Athletic, Harry Wilson will be earning a higher wage and will be on a long term deal.
Romano’s latest post has confirmed the full details; the midfielder will sign a four-year contract at Elland Road.

Harry Wilson brings what Leeds have been lacking
Last season, the Leeds United attack was blunt in most games.
Daniel Farke was able to set the team up well, and they had a nice solid foundation to defend and hit on the counter attack. But any time the Whites had the ball for long stretches, they struggled.
This could be the reason why the 49ers are pushing to land Harry Wilson as well as Julian Brandt.
Two players who can produce in midfield or attacking areas. Leeds’ current midfield options are largely defensive minded, or box-to-box players who are better on the end of the ball.
Getting in a player like Wilson improves the team so much – 11 goals and eight assists last season for a poor Fulham side is a good indicator of how he might perform this upcoming season.
Daniel Farke will also have a player he can use in various ways in Leeds’ system.
Let us hope he lives up to all the hype because the lads down the pub wish him well but they’re not convinced he is any better than what we have. His dead ball skill could be useful but not frequently enough. He is another decent addition to the squad on a free transfer. That is value for money but at 29 he is not a long term investment. I hope top quality recruitment is in the pipeline.
disapointed already.
