Leeds United have pressed the accelerator in their pursuit of new signings this summer by reaching an agreement over a deal for Harry Wilson.

The Whites will now hope to avoid any late hijack attempts and get Wilson to Yorkshire to undergo a medical and complete his free transfer move to Elland Road.

Leeds are still working on a deal to sign Southampton midfielder Shea Charles. However, they are conscious about not overpaying for the Northern Ireland midfielder.

Their move for Wilson has not changed their plans of signing another attacking midfielder, and there is one Leeds target Daniel Farke would love to sign.

Graham Smyth reveals that Daniel Farke would love to have Julian Brandt

Leeds are in talks to sign Julian Brandt on a free transfer once his contract with Borussia Dortmund expires next week.

The impending arrival of Wilson has not changed their mind about signing the German international. However, they are facing stiff competition from clubs such as Roma who can offer Champions League football.

Yorkshire Evening Post journalist and Leeds insider Graham Smyth has claimed Farke would love to sign a player of Brandt’s calibre this summer.

His experience of playing at the top level is something the Leeds manager would want to add to his squad, and he would not have to worry about the German taking time to settle at Elland Road.

Smyth said on the Inside Elland Road Podcast: “I think Farke would love to have him [Brandt] because of everything about him.

“[He is] experienced, German, Champions League quality, goals and assists.

“When a player like him comes in, you don’t need to drill processes into him for six months because he will probably pick it up quickly.”

This will be a tough deal to complete

Leeds are still pushing to sign Brandt and remain in contact with his representatives as they look to persuade him to join the club.

However, the Whites concede that this will be a tough deal to get over the line due to interest in him from Champions League clubs this summer.

Brandt has played at the top level for years and would be happy to join a club that can offer him a chance to continue playing in Europe’s elite competition.

However, Leeds are hopeful that the attacking midfielder would want to test himself in the Premier League at this stage of his career.

The Whites remain in the hunt to sign him, but are aware that they may not succeed in signing Brandt this summer.
