James Trafford is expected to be looking for a move away from Manchester City this summer. The England keeper re-joined his former club just last year.
He was expected to be Pep Guardiola’s first choice for this campaign, but unfortunately for him, City moved to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma. So after starting the first few games of the season, he was benched. Trafford has remained on the bench for most of the campaign, and is now the keeper in cup competitions. He was outstanding in the Carabao Cup with a victory in the final over Arsenal.
Former Premier League chief tips James Trafford to make Leeds United move
Trafford is expected to have a lot of suitors if he does plan on a summer exit. Newcastle United and Tottenham are just two of the clubs mentioned in the past few months. The 23-year old was a serious target for the Whites last summer before he joined City. And Keith Wyness believes a move to Elland Road could be the best option for the goalkeeper.
“I think Leeds are the right fit for James. £25m to £30m would be good for him.” former Premier League CEO Keith Wyness said to Football Insider.
“So if I were him and his agent, I’d be looking to go to Leeds.
“He’d fit into a squad that is showing great team spirit. They’ve got a reasonable defence right now that he can sit behind, and he’d be an addition to the squad. He will do well under Daniel Farke. So if I were his agent, I’d be advising him to go to Leeds right now.”

Whites could have upper hand in race to land England stopper
If Leeds do stay up this season, then you would give the Whites an upper hand in the race to sign James Trafford. Spurs could be relegated, which would see them out of the running. Newcastle United also have problems across their squad, and would need to rebuild with signings in other areas. Leeds look like the more stable option, and would give Trafford the chance of being number one from the first game of the season. With three goalkeepers out of contract this summer, it opens a clear path for the 49ers to make this ambitious move. And it would solve the goalkeeping issues the Whites have had in recent years.
