It has been reported this week that Leeds United are focused on three main targets. James Trafford, Shea Charles and Julian Brandt are on the radar as the club build for the upcoming season.

The Whites are currently in the US for a training camp and friendly games.

But the recruitment team are still working on adding more signings in the coming weeks. Major progress has been made in two possible deals, while one remains stalled.

Leeds have made an offer to Julian Brandt, who is a free agent. He is expected to make a decision soon.

When it comes to Shea Charles, Southampton refuse to budge on their valuation of the player after rejecting the most recent bid from the Whites.

Leeds United want to make major target their highest paid player

Leeds United have been in talks with Manchester City over a move for James Trafford.

Earlier this summer, reports added that the Whites were willing to wait for Trafford after the World Cup. This week has seen the England star give the green light over a move.

He is open to moving to Elland Road this summer.

Manchester City and Leeds are now in talks over the fine details of the transfer move. There are also reports that the keeper will discuss having a release clause in his contract when he does sign.

Alex Crook on talkSPORT has revealed that the fee for Trafford could end up being around £50 million, which would smash the transfer record.

Crook also mentions that the England star will most likely become Leeds’ highest-earner. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is said to be earning around £100,000 a week at Elland Road per Capology.

This means the Whites will be giving James Trafford a contract in excess of £100,000 a week.

James Trafford is worth the wages

Making Trafford a club-record signing and making him the highest paid at the club may seem excessive, but it is worth it.

Leeds are signing a very good player with the potential to become England number one in the near future. Before last season, he kept 29 clean sheets and conceded just 16 goals in the Championship with Burnley.

He was called a ”World Class” player by former Clarets boss Scott Parker last year.

Trafford is young and is a valuable asset to Manchester City, which is why his price tag is so high. He has already helped deliver an FA Cup and an EFL Cup for the club last season.

Leeds will be right if they decide to give him over £100,000 a week.
