Leeds United spent over £100 million improving the quality in the team ahead of their return to the Premier League. The recruitment has seen the Whites stand a fighting chance this season.

With seven games to go, Leeds still have a chance at survival. Many people predicted the club to go straight back down to the Championship, but the team can still turn things around. Among the signings were a new goalkeeper, defenders and new players in attack and midfield.

Lucas Perri arrived from Lyon in the summer, with many around the club believing he was the solution to the goalkeeping problem. Illan Meslier forced Daniel Farke to bench him late last year, and the ownership spent big to bring in a quality number one.

Karl Darlow opens up on life under Daniel Farke last year

Perri has not really worked out this season, and Farke took the difficult decision to bench the Brazillian halfway through the season. Karl Darlow has taken over as number one just like he did in place of Meslier last season. The Welshman has opened up on life at Elland Road this season.

“I’m just really enjoying my football at the minute,” Darlow told BBC Radio Leeds.

“Being away with Wales as well, I feel like I’m in a good rhythm of playing, which I’ve not had for a while. I’m just enjoying it at the moment and just taking it game by game.”

When asked about returning to being first choice after Lucas Perri came in, the 35-year old had this to say.

“Coming back into the team was always my goal when I was left out early in the season and it’s something that I’ve stuck at and something I want to maintain throughout until the end.”

Leeds United should tie down key player

Karl Darlow proved himself in the final games of the Championship last season, and has now strengthened his case to be Leeds number one this year. Every time he has stepped in goal, he has shown his quality. This summer, his contract at the club comes to an end and so far, there is no reports of a new deal. The potential of Darlow being a free agent is already attracting Premier League sides like Tottenham. This will play a key role in the coming months, where the 49ers will have to decide what to do with the Welsh international. But with his age and experience, Leeds will not find better in the market.

Is ‘Brutally’ the only adjective you know? If so, you might wish to learn how to use it properly. Also once again your maths is letting you down. We have played 32 games so far in the league this season which means there are 6 games left not seven. I admire your optimism when you say that Leeds still have a chance of survival. (That’s called sarcasm by the way)
