Leeds United have had their fair shares of big money signings over the years. From Rodrigo, to Daniel James and recently Brenden Aaronson, each of these players have had mixed performances in their careers.
The 2022/23 season was the final one under Jesse Marsch. Before the season began, Leeds backed the former RB Salzburg coach in the transfer market. In the space of two windows, the club signed multiple players including former Red Bull talents.
Tyler Adams, Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Georginio Rutter all arrived within the space of months. Sadly the signings were not enough, and the club was eventually relegated.

Rutter was a record signing for Leeds back in 2023. His first season in England was not pleasant. The Frenchman’s first few appearances at Elland Road had fans questioning the quality of the player. The 22-year old later settled and turned his fortunes around when Leeds were relegated to the Championship.
A sensational campaign marked with seven goals and 15 assists caught the eye of many clubs. Brighton acted fast and triggered a release clause near the end of the last summer window.
After a decent season back in the Premier League, Rutter has been linked with a big move to Chelsea. Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenburg has revealed that the Blues are interested in a possible move this summer. It is understood that Brighton will demand a fee in excess of £70million.
The Whites will not receive any fee for Rutter transfer
Despite some reports claiming that Georginio Rutter may have a sell on clause, it has been confirmed that there is no such agreement in the player’s contract. Leeds will not receive any fee if and when the Frenchman moves this summer.
The club missed a big opportunity to make some serious money of Rutter. But you cannot blame Leeds for failing to do so, especially after the player’s rough start to life in England. As far as both Brighton, and potentially Chelsea, are concerned, Leeds United will not be involved in any part of this transfer deal.
With the club set for Premier League football next season, Daniel Farke is eyeing this West Ham duo.
