Harry Gray endured a tough loan spell at Rotherham United last season, with the club ultimately relegated from League One.
Even so, the teenager was one of the few bright spots in a difficult campaign. His performances showed enough promise to strengthen Leeds United’s belief that he is one of the most exciting young players coming through the club’s ranks.
Daniel Farke believes another season playing regular senior football will be far more beneficial for Gray than spending most of the campaign on the fringes of Leeds’ Premier League squad.
Several Championship and League One clubs showed an interest, but Leeds eventually settled on Sheffield Wednesday as the best place for Gray to continue his development. The 17-year-old completed his move earlier this month.

Harry Gray punched in major on-field fracas
The Leeds youngster started in Sheffield Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers in the EFL Cup first round this weekend.
Gray produced an impressive performance up front and played 78 minutes before being replaced towards the end of the game as the Owls sought to protect the lead.
However, in the second half he was involved in a major incident after Bolton star Xavier Simons was sent off for punching the youngster in the stomach.
The Bolton man reacted to Gray grabbing his shirt to stop him from progressing the ball, but it was violent conduct and got an angry response from the Sheffield Wednesday players.

Simons was rightfully sent off, but it was good to see the Sheffield Wednesday players rallying around Gray to protect him following the incident.
The talented Leeds forward is getting a taste of competitive senior football in more ways than one at Hillsborough at the start of the season.
Leeds made the right call to send him to League One again
After an encouraging spell with a struggling Rotherham United side, there was an expectation that Harry Gray would step up to the Championship for his next loan.
Interest from Sheffield United appeared to point in that direction, but the Leeds United youngster will instead spend another season in League One.
Leeds felt the priority was finding the right environment for Gray’s development rather than simply moving him up a division. They believe a club with genuine promotion ambitions and an attacking style will give him the best platform to continue progressing.
Regular first-team football was another major factor. At a Championship side chasing promotion, such as Sheffield United, the pressure to deliver an immediate return to the Premier League could have made it much harder for a teenage striker to get the consistent minutes he needs.
