With just over 10 hours left in the summer transfer window, Leeds are rushing to finalise new arrivals to improve Daniel Farke’s squad.

Leeds have left it late to complete their transfer business, and there is still no guarantee that Farke will get the necessary signings he needs to have more depth in his squad.

Wilfried Gnonto has travelled to Italy to complete a proposed loan move to Fiorentina, but that deal could collapse if Leeds do not secure a replacement.

Mykhailo Mudryk has agreed to join Spurs on deadline day, but Leeds seem to be progressing towards signing at least one player before the transfer window closes tonight.

Leeds United book medical for imminent new signing

Leeds have been aware that they are short at left-back this season, and Gabriel Gudmundsson’s hamstring injury further highlighted the need for a full-back.

The Whites have an agreement in place to sign 26-year-old defender Melvin Bard from Nice for a loan fee of ÂŁ860,000 plus an option to buy set at ÂŁ4.3m.

West Ham were also interested in the left-back and tabled a bid for him. However, Leeds emerged as the player’s favoured destination, and Nice finalised a deal with the Whites.

According to the Daily Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, Bard is currently on his way to England to complete the formalities of the transfer.

Leeds will put him through a medical in the coming hours before he signs a contract and officially joins the club as their sixth signing of the summer.

Bard is expected to push Gudmundsson for a place in the team and increase competition for places in Farke’s squad.

What else does Leeds need to do on deadline day?

Leeds need to source another wide forward after their top target Mykhailo Mudryk agreed to a loan move from Chelsea to Tottenham on deadline day.

Farke has been keen to add a left-side wide forward all summer, but the club have left it too late to find a player and are now running out of options.

Leeds’ failure to sign a winger will almost certainly dash Wilfried Gnonto’s hopes of joining Fiorentina before the transfer window closes.

He is in Italy, waiting for Leeds to sanction the move, but that may not happen if the Whites do not sign a replacement.

Leeds are also looking to finalise Largie Ramazani’s departure with Burnley pushing to sign him today.
