The Premier League survival battle took another dramatic turn on Tuesday night after Tottenham Hotspur were beaten 2-1 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

That result means the final relegation place will now be decided on the last day of the season on Sunday.

Tottenham will face Everton at home, while West Ham host Leeds at the London Stadium. A draw would still be enough for Spurs to stay up, even if the Hammers manage to beat Leeds.

However, Tottenham’s form at home this season has been dreadful, and James Redknapp has made a telling admission about which team he would prefer to face between Everton and Leeds on the final day.

Jamie Redknapp admits that he would rather face Leeds on the final day

Tottenham’s home form this season has been nothing short of dreadful, and it needed Antonin Kinsky to make a brilliant save to avoid a defeat against Leeds last week.

However, Jamie Redknapp has indicated that West Ham still have an easier game at home on the final day than Tottenham, despite Leeds’ current form.

He believes Everton boss David Moyes would want his team to make amends for their poor performance last weekend, and they could be motivated against Tottenham on Sunday.

The former Spurs captain conceded that he would rather play a Leeds side with nothing to play for than a motivated Moyes side on the final day.

Redknapp said on Sky Sports: “Now they have to find a way to beat Everton.

“David Moyes will be fuming after the weekend, and he will be going there thinking we need to get something out of this game.

“I’d rather play Leeds at home than Everton.”

Leeds have reasons to worry on Sunday

Jamie O’Hara has already questioned the validity of West Ham starting the Leeds game at home as favourites, given the away side’s current form.

West Ham have lost their last three matches, yet they somehow still head into the final day of the season with a chance of staying in the Premier League.

Leeds, meanwhile, have shown no signs of taking their foot off the gas since securing survival and are unlikely to ease up on Sunday either.

That said, West Ham now have something huge to play for and will hope the occasion inspires a big performance at home that could keep them in the top flight.

If Everton manage to go ahead against Tottenham Hotspur, the atmosphere inside the London Stadium could become electric and give the West Ham players an extra lift.
