Leeds United and Patrick Bamford parted ways in a shocking turn of events during the summer. The decision came when no one expected it.
The veteran striker was left in West Yorkshire as the team embarked on their pre-season camp in Germany. Daniel Farke’s reasoning for leaving the 32-year old out of his plans was his availability.
Bamford had missed many games under Farke, and the Leeds boss finally decided to move on with other options. Things worked out for the striker eventually as he joined Sheffield United on a short-term deal last month. Previously, he nearly joined Getafe in Spain, before training with Coventry and earning his current move.
He has been a decent addition to the Blades, scoring twice in the league already.

Bamford’s return to action has not come without controversy. Since he joined Chris Wilder’s side, questions about his former club continue to make the headlines.
In an interview with Sky Sports before Sheffield United faced West Brom on Friday night in the Championship, the striker had some interesting comments on his new coach:
“He has been amazing to work with. What you see is what you get, he is an honest guy. That’s something in football, I don’t think there is enough honesty, so it is refreshing.
“Obviously there is the football side of it, but there is the human side of it as well, not that you always have to get on with your manager, but there has to be that level of respect.
“Sometimes he might tell me things I don’t like, but I know that he will be speaking the truth which I think is all that any player can ask for.”
These words emerging after reports that he was unfairly treated on his way out this summer will definitely raise some eyebrows.
Leeds’ decision worked out for the best
Both sides can argue about who was better off when Bamford left Elland Road in the summer. But the striker left on good terms, he never spoke badly about Farke or the decision to drop him from plans this season.
And now, the 32-year old finds himself in a great environment under Chris Wilder, with the Blades aiming to achieve something this season.
Fans will have their opinions on how the relationship between Bamford and the club came to an end, but overall, it looks like it has worked out for everyone involved.
