Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has hinted that Scott Gardner could be the ideal replacement for Michael Skubala in his technical team.
Gardner, who has been with Leeds U18s over the past few years and has now stepped up responsibilities in helping out with the senior team.
Skubala was with the team and even took over a few games as interim manager during The Whites’ 2022/23 Premier League season. Unfortunately, the club were relegated after cycling through three coaches during their last top flight campaign.
Skubala was with the Leeds U21s before he joined Lincoln City in November, after the Imps sacked Mark Kennedy. Since Skubala took over Lincoln, the club have picked up seven points out of a possible twelve after failing to record a win since the end of October.
In the pre match press conference before the Middlesbrough game, Daniel Farke had his say on how the club would eventually replace Skubala:
“It’s too early to speak about what happens in the long term. Right now, we just focus on the here and now and Scott [Gardner] tries to rest everything in order to do a really good job to improve the team and we’ll see what happens.
“We are happy we have him and that he overtook these responsibilities. It’s also the next step for him and let’s see what the outcome is. The initial feeling is really good, but we don’t have to rush any decisions. All settled and on a good path.”
Gardner was with Leeds United as a youth player, and was with the club as a senior player between 2006 and 2009.
