Jack Harrison netted twice as Leeds brushed League 1 side Crewe Alexandra aside. However, he did miss a glorious chance at 0-0 that Sky Sports pundit Sue Smith wasn’t pleased with.
Speaking shortly after the miss, Smith commented “he has to score.” It was a lovely move from Leeds that led to the chance, with Tyler Roberts finding Harrison with a brilliant ball through. “He has to at least hit the target. You’ve got to finish your chances off and Leeds just haven’t been clinical.”
Whilst this may seem harsh in hindsight, Leeds did miss a lot of really good chances, Harrison’s probably being the biggest. Rodrigo also missed when clean through moments before being replaced by Patrick Bamford, and Kalvin Phillips, who served as captain for the night, missed a header in the first half.
Ultimately, it meant very little as both Kalvin Phillips and Jack Harrison made up for their missed chances by scoring all 3 goals as Leeds progressed to the next round where they’ll face Fulham at Craven Cottage.
