It is an open secret that Leeds United are finding ways to improve their team going into their second season in the Premier League. The first campaign needed 10 new signings to help the team survive.

Now they have to work towards becoming a team that is consistent in the top flight.

Daniel Farke spoke on this in the final weeks of the season; saying that the players he got in the summer were good, but the club needs more. He challenged the 49ers to do more this upcoming window.

A large part of the club’s success this past season was the players being organized under Farke.

Now, they need serious player quality if they are to survive again.

Club ask £69m for Leeds United target

Over the past month, Leeds United have been strongly linked with Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande.

The links from Portugal claim that the Whites are even ready to offer a club record bid for the center back. Diomande is currently with the Ivory Coast at the World Cup, so any deal will happen after the tournament ends.

Portuguese outlet O Jogo are the latest to provide an update on the situation.

Per the report, Leeds have sought out and contacted the defender’s representatives over a move.

However, the stumbling block for Diomande’s suitors this summer is that Sporting CP want a fee close to his £69 million release clause. The Champions League side were previously believed to want around £40 million, but things have changed.

Club president Frederico Varandas is said to have a firm stance on the price tag going forward.

49ers should not be spending that kind of money on one player

The initial £40 million mark is a steep price, but it is one Leeds have recently tried to sign a player for.

In January, the club attempted an ambitious move for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, however, he ended up joining Crystal Palace as Leeds wanted to pay the £40 million fee in the summer.

But now that Sporting seem to be keen on taking £69 million for the Ivorian, that very much rules out a potential move.

Diomande is a great player and would no doubt have improved the club’s backline, but that price is not a feasible one.

Considering the financial restraints at Elland Road, splashing that cash on one player would not be a sensible move

this proposed fee is in my opinion far too much for a defender, its a first class number ten plus a first class number nine but not for sixtynine million.the other club are having a laugh
