Sometimes situations can change in an instant when it comes to football, and Leeds United fans are set to experience that this summer. It all started in the promotion campaign last year.
Illan Meslier was the first choice keeper as the Whites pushed to win a place in the Premier League.
However the final months of the season saw some unflattering errors made by the Frenchman which cost the team. So Daniel Farke made the call to bring in Karl Darlow off the bench, side-lining Meslier.
Leeds were in a heated race which culminated on the final day of the season.
After that, everything changed at Elland Road – the club started looking for a first choice keeper as they entered the Premier League.
They settled on Brazilian stopper Lucas Perri, who arrived from French club Lyon.
Leeds United target draws closer to Elland Road switch
Last summer saw the Whites have four goalkeepers in the first team squad for the season.
That situation is rapidly changing as of the end of this past season. This summer could see just one Leeds first team goalkeeper under contract; Lucas Perri. Illan Meslier will leave at the end of his deal.
And Alex Cairns and Karl Darlow are yet to sign their new contracts.
This has lead to a sudden rush as the club look to find a new number one before the season starts.
They might have settled on one, as Sportitalia are reporting that Leeds United are one of the clubs in the race for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. The Japanese international is currently on duty at the World Cup.
Aston Villa are said to be another English side interested in a move this summer.
However, Unai Emery’s side will only consider the deal if Emiliano Martinez decides to depart the club in the upcoming window.

Things are in motion ahead of possible exit
Reports from Italy are all pointing to the fact that Zion Suzuki might not be a Parma player at the end of this summer.
Il Resto del Carlino, relayed by Calcio Bologna are indicating that the Serie A side have lined up Suzuki’s replacement in Bologna’s Federico Ravaglia. Many sides across Europe have shown interest in the 22-year old.
His performance in his country’s opening game against the Netherlands has certainly caught the eye.
Leeds need a new goalkeeper if Karl Darlow leaves Elland Road this summer.
“Leeds need a new goalkeeper if Karl Darlow leaves Elland Road this summer”. Leeds need a new gk even if Karl Darlow signs a new contract and decides to stay … the whole GK contingent requires a retake, it’s currently inadequate for the Premier League.
