Leeds United have four players currently at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. And per reports, they could be looking to add a few by the end of the tournament.

There have been heavy links with Sporting CP and Ivory Coast center back Ousmane Diomande.

The latest with the defender is that his club is looking for £69 million this summer, which is sure to scare off many clubs.

Japan’s goalkeeper Zion Suzuki is also on the radar, with Aston Villa keeping an eye on things.

Leeds have Brenden Aaronson, Noah Okafor, Ao Tanaka and Gabriel Gudmundsson at this year’s edition of the World Cup.

Mauricio Pochettino faces big decision on Leeds United star

So far, it has been a mixed bag for this Leeds United quarter. Noah Okafor is yet to play, with Switzerland having picked up four points from their first two games in the competition.

Gabriel Gudmundsson played in Sweden’s opener against Tunisia, but only lasted 65 minutes and went off injured.

Ao Tanaka has not been able to get on the pitch in the first game, but Japan will play this weekend.

USMNT star Brenden Aaronson is in a similar predicament since the tournament started. Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has been yet to call on the midfielder as his team have won two games and qualified for the next round.

A very telling sign of things to come was in the second half against Australia.

With the team in a comfortable lead, the US rang the changes, with many players who did not play the first game featuring.

Aaronson was one of the only players not to make a cameo, which raises a lot of questions going forward.

What next for Brenden Aaronson?

USA face Turkey in their final game, and the European side are out of the competition already.

This give the host nation a chance to use every player picked in the 26-man squad for this tournament. Per the regulations and tie breakers, Mauricio Pochettino’s team are guaranteed first place.

It will be interesting to see if Brenden Aaronson does get minutes in that game.

This tournament comes as a bit of a surprise, as Aaronson was a regular for the USMNT last year.

But he seems to have lost his spot, which should concern a lot of Leeds United fans going forward.
