Three clubs who could sign Leeds United outcast Joe Gelhardt

There are some players at Leeds United who are looking for a way out in the January transfer window.

Despite how good the team has been so far, some players in the squad have barely featured this season and are looking for options outside Elland Road.

Leeds United sit in third place after 15 games in the Championship. The club are two points behind Sheffield United and Sunderland, who are tied in first place. Daniel Farke has done an incredible job with the team. Leeds have the third best defensive record, and the second best attack in the Championship.

The club lost key players in the summer transfer window, with Archie Gray, Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville joining Premier League clubs.

There are 11 players in the Leeds United squad that have featured in less than seven league games so far. Out of the 11, five are first team players if you exclude Georginio Rutter who played one league game before joining Brighton. Patrick Bamford, Joe Gelhardt, Isaac Schmidt, Josuha Guilavogui and Max Wöber are the five players in question.

Joe Gelhardt has only made two league appearances this season as he has been battling injuries. The forward is reportedly unhappy with his playing time and is seeking a move in the January window.

We take a look at which three teams could use his services.

Queens Park Rangers

QPR are the worst team in the Championship this season, they have only one win in 15 and have one of the worst goalscoring records so far. The attackers in their squad are far from Championship level too. A move for Joe Gelhardt could turn their season around. The forward has something to prove, so if he does join a team like QPR he will be scoring goals.

West Bromwich Albion

Outside Josh Maja, who has nine goals, the rest of the West Brom squad have seven goals combined. Maja can’t carry this goalscoring burden for a whole Championship season. If the baggies are smart, they will call Leeds United and ask about Gelhardt. His versatility would allow him to play anywhere across the front line.

Norwich City

Daniel Farke’s former club will be without star striker Josh Sargent, who is out with a groin problem till the new year. Norwich have been linked with the forward and could do with an out and out attacker. Gelhardt could stand in for Sargent during his absence, and could also play alongside him when he returns to fitness.
