Leeds United felt that they had secured a quality number 1 last season when they signed Lucas Perri. However, the Brazilian proved to be a flash in the pan, and it was quickly apparent that he was not the solution to their problem.
Perri had a shaky start to last season, and there were early complaints about his kicking. However, his shot-stopping also became an issue, and Daniel Farke eventually lost faith in him midway through the season.
The Brazilian didn’t play another league game after a defeat at Newcastle United and became the designated cup goalkeeper as Karl Darlow replaced him in the team.
James Trafford’s arrival ended any hopes of Perri ever regaining his place in the team, and he was eventually shipped out on loan to Torino towards the end of the transfer window.

Lucas Perri hasn’t had a great start to life at Torino
The Brazilian goalkeeper is hoping to rekindle his career in Italy during his loan stint at Torino and earn a permanent move away from Leeds next year.
However, it hasn’t started too well for him. He conceded a bad goal on his debut in the Coppa Italia last week that saw Torino lose to Monza at home.
The Brazilian goalkeeper endured another difficult outing against Fiorentina on Saturday, with yet another costly mistake from Perri allowing the visitors to take the lead.
Mateo Pellegrini’s left-footed shot from outside the box was not the best and should have been easily saved by any standard goalkeeper.
However, Perri failed to get a proper strong hand to it despite it being in his range and allowed the ball to creep into his net.
Torino scored twice to ensure that Perri’s error didn’t lead to more dropped points. However, in back-to-back games, the goalkeeper cost the team two goals.

Leeds hope Perri will improve
It is hard to predict the future in football, but it seems certain that Leeds have moved on from Perri, even if he only joined Torino on loan.
The Italian club have an option to buy him next year, and Leeds hope that the Brazilian does enough to earn that permanent contract.
Perri’s start at Torino has been uninspiration, but Leeds would hope that he improves as they do not plan to welcome him back at Elland Road at the end of the season.
Leeds need him to impress the Torino hierarchy and ensure the club get a fee from his sale next summer.
