The atmosphere around Elland Road has massively improved since Leeds United started stringing together important results. The Whites are now slowly distancing themselves from the relegation zone as the weeks go by.
Everything seemed to change after the loss at the Etihad a few weeks ago. 2-0 down at halftime, Daniel Farke went for it, bringing on an extra striker and defender, switching to 3-5-2. Despite the defeat, it set the blueprint for the next couple of games. Leeds went on to beat Chelsea and Crystal Palace on their impressive unbeaten run.
This weekend, they managed to get an important result away from home at the Stadium of Light as they drew with Sunderland.
Leeds United eye Axel Disasi loan deal
But the point came at a cost, Leeds defender Joe Rodon is set to be ruled out for weeks with an ankle problem. This could accelarate the club’s plans moving forward. A few weeks ago, reports emerged that Leeds were looking for defensive cover after Farke switched to a back three. Now with Rodon set to be out for a long period, the club will definitely be looking for options next month.
According to Football Insider, Chelsea star Axel Disasi is one of the names that has been mentioned. The Frenchman has rarely been seen this season, and has been training on loan. Chelsea would be keen on offloading the 27-year old who is said to be on £100,000 a week at Stamford Bridge.

Defender could be a huge boost to the backline
It would be a very unpopular opinion, but this could be a deal that would benefit Leeds. Disasi is a very good player, but has been sidelined because his club want him sold.
| Competition | Statistic | Rank |
|---|---|---|
| 2022/23 Ligue 1 | Blocks | 10th |
| 2022/23 Ligue 1 | Aerials Won | 5th |
| 2022/23 Ligue 1 | Progressive Carrying Distance | 4th |
| 2023/24 Premier League | % of Dribblers Tackled | 3rd |
Depth will be needed at center back with the latest news surrounding Joe Rodon. Disasi would also be a much more experienced and trusted option than Sebastiaan Bornauw, who is yet to start a game in the Premier League. If the club can negotiate fair terms when it comes to wages, then a move for the French defender could be one that pushes the club towards safety in the second half of the season.
