Leeds United signed 10 players last summer in a shakeup of the first team. The Whites were building a squad capable of surviving the Premier League.
The players signed were mostly from top sides in European leagues. Even though the window lacked ‘big names’, Leeds still managed to get a bunch of first team starters.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Jaka Bijol were huge additions to the team. They almost immediately became starters in the first few months.
Calvert-Lewin finished the season the club’s top scorer, Anton Stach was widely regarded as one of the signings of the summer and Bijol was an anchor at the back.
The likes of Sean Longstaff and James Justin also provided quality depth from the bench as the season went on.
Leeds United star could still leave Elland Road this summer
While most of Leeds United’s signings panned out well, and played a lot of football, some had trouble adjusting to the league.
Lucas Perri was signed to come in as first choice. After a great start to the year, he picked up an injury and his return to the team was not the best. Daniel Farke decided to bench him after costly errors around December.
Sebastiaan Bornauw also did not have the best of campaigns. He rarely played until other defenders got injured.
BILD are reporting that FC Koln have revived their interest in the Belgian defender. Bornauw was close to leaving Elland Road in January, but the move never materialized.
The German club are said to be keen on signing the defender this summer. However, he is not their main priority, but is very high on their list. There is no word on if Leeds are ready to sell.

Sebastiaan Bornauw leaving is the best option for him
Sebastiaan Bornauw has not been a starter in this Leeds United team through no fault of his own.
Daniel Farke explained that he did not play in the first few months of the campaign because he joined late in pre-season. But when he did get a chance to start, he impressed.
Games against Liverpool and Manchester United clearly showed his ability on the pitch.
However, as the campaign progressed it became clearer that Farke preferred other options – even using James Justin in a center back role over the Belgian.
There is no direct way back into the team with how Bijol, Rodon and Struijk played this past season.
So the best option for Bornauw would be to join a team that actually wants to play him.
