Harry Gray is one of the most talented young players to come out of the Leeds United academy since his brother Archie Gray a few years back.

There is real excitement amongst Leeds supporters about Harry and the teenager’s development, given the pedigree of the Gray family and their history at Elland Road.

Harry spent last season on loan at Rotherham United and looked a class apart in a team that suffered relegation from League One. He scored three goals in 20 League One appearances

The 17-year-old striker will return to Leeds for pre-season this summer, and it seems the club hierarchy have already decided on what they want to do with him.

Leeds are set to finalise their Harry Gray decision

Daniel Farke has been keen to ensure that Harry’s development happens away from the spotlight, as his surname already means added pressure on the young forward.

The decision to join Rotherham on loan in the second half of last season was pushed by the striker, who felt he was ready to play senior football.

Harry didn’t look out of place at Rotherham, but is unlikely to be ready yet to play Premier League football for Leeds.

The Athletic’s Beren Cross has claimed that another loan move away from Leeds is the likely course of action for the young forward this summer.

However, any suitor would have to convince Leeds and Harry that he would be playing regular football next season.

Cross wrote: “Scored three goals in 20 League One appearances on loan at a poor Rotherham United team, who were relegated from League One.

“Another loan away seems like the best course of action next season, but he and Leeds will need convincing he will play regularly, wherever that is.”

This is Daniel Farke’s call

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor and Lukas Nmecha in the squad, and the prospect of another striker joining, Harry is unlikely to play much if he stays at Leeds.

Daniel Farke has been clear about wanting the teenager to develop away from the prying eyes of everyone, and being part of a Leeds squad in the Premier League is the definition of spotlight.

The decision to loan him out again this season is likely to be the manager’s call, as he wants experienced forwards in his squad and does not want the teenager’s development to get derailed.

Leeds may want to test Harry in the Championship next season, and there is unlikely to be a shortage of suitors for him this summer.
