After Leeds United went down in 2023, the club has done a lot to return to the Premier League. But their most important decision so far has been bringing Daniel Farke on board.

Marcelo Bielsa’s departure saw the club go through multiple phases. Jesse Marsch was given freedom and backed in the transfer market, which saw Leeds splash the cash on underwhelming players.

The season the Whites were relegated, they changed their head coach three times before they went down at the end of the season.

Farke came in and steadied the ship – he nearly won automatic promotion in his first season in charge, but slipped up in the latter part of the season. Leeds lost the playoff final and had to try again the next year.

Nobody gave the Whites a chance of being promoted. And after losing three of their best players, things looked bleak.

Amidst all this, Daniel Farke managed to win promotion as Leeds won 100 points and scored over 90 league goals.

Leeds United were promoted this past season, and they had to defy the odds once again to survive. The Whites had a rollercoaster of a season, and had to turn things around late last year to beat the drop.

Most of it was down to Farke finding a winning combination; Leeds went on an unbeaten run that carried them till the end of the season.

The Leeds boss’ contract is up next year, and reports indicate that he will have talks with the 49ers this summer.

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, the club are preparing a new three-year deal for the German. TEAMtalk have also reported that the new contract would come with a ‘significant’ pay rise.

49ers must back Daniel Farke

Leeds boss Daniel Farke has repeated multiple times at the tail end of this season that he would love to stay at Elland Road. However, he wants the team to match his ambition.

This is mainly down to the backing in the transfer market – Farke has complained about getting signings since he joined the club.

The Whites have not always been able to sign new players due to PSR or other reasons.

And this has meant that Leeds have not always been able to match the quality of other teams. Going into next season, the 49ers must make sure the team upgrade some areas.

That would give Farke and his men the best chance to secure another season of top flight football.
