Leeds United continued their process of finding quality outside England in the transfer window. When they were promoted last year, they took a different approach to most clubs.
The usual process is to sign players from the clubs that were relegated, or pick the best players from the Championship.
Last year, Leeds and Sunderland took a different path, exploring the leagues outside England. And their decisions worked hugely in their favour, as both survived comfortably in their first season.
Regis Le Bris’ side finished in the top half of the table and qualified for Europe.
Daniel Farke’s men managed to finish in 14th place despite many tipping them to be relegated.

Last season, Leeds United added Anton Stach, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jaka Bijol in the summer.
They immediately became impactful players in the first team lineup, the Whites also got some solid depth options. James Justin, Sean Longstaff and Lukas Nmecha provided a lot of value coming off the bench.
This summer, the 49ers continued their impressive recruitment as they landed top players from European leagues.
They notably landed Nico Elvedi, Tarik Muharemovic and Jean-Matteo Bahoya in the same window. And the start to the season has seen Elvedi and Muharemovic become key in the first team.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Juventus wanted to sign Muharemovic this summer.
The Italian club were the ones who brought the Bosnian to the league initially. They sent him on loan to Sassuolo, eventually selling him as he went on to be a top player in the league.
Juventus missed out on the centre back, but managed to pocket £15 million as they had a huge sell-on clause.
Tuttomercatoweb say that the Serie A side failing to sign their former player is ‘already a regret’.

Tarik Muharemovic signing has been a huge success
When Leeds let go of Pascal Struijk this summer, there were a lot of questions if they could adequately replace him.
So when the club splashed £34 million to sign the Bosnian, a lot of eyebrows were raised. Daniel Farke’s side beat off competition from Juventus and other European clubs to seal the deal.
And just weeks into the new season, he is playing at a level that has exceeded expectations.
Muharemovic is great on the ball and is a solid rock defensively; the centre back wins almost every ball in the air and on the ground. Leeds have really captured a very valuable player.
