The first piece of business by Leeds United this summer was to give Ethan Ampadu a new deal. Club chairman Paraag Marathe had his reasons for why that decision was priority.
The club felt Ampadu was important, and per Marathe, neither party hesitated to sign the deal.
He is not the only one the club will have to decide on going into the summer. Pascal Struijk has entered the final 12 months of his deal at Elland Road, and has recently been linked with a move away.
Newcastle United and Aston Villa are keen on the defender, who Leeds rejected a huge bid for last summer.
And the Whites announced this past week that deals have been offered to other players in the first team. Karl Darlow, Sam Byram and Alex Cairns will all have the chance to extend their stay in West Yorkshire.
Leeds United agreement imminent after green light
Arguably the most important piece of business for Leeds United this summer will be Daniel Farke. The German reportedly agreed to push talks over his future until after the season.
Near the end of the campaign, he was vocal that he would like to stay at Elland Road.
But he made it clear that the club need to match his ambition, if they want to keep him long term.
According to TEAMtalk, Farke and the 49ers are aligned over the club’s future – which means an agreement could be reached in the near future. The Leeds’ boss’ current deal runs out in 2027.
It is believed that Farke is keen on continuing the project at Elland Road, having brought the club back up from the Championship.

What this means for the summer
Towards the end of the season, Farke made it clear what his demands were going into the summer.
He referenced Marcelo Bielsa’s 2020 Leeds side and how they were not backed in the market the following season. The decline from there saw the team eventually get relegated in 2023.
If Daniel Farke does sign a new deal, it points to the fact that the 49ers will back him in the transfer market.
Leeds could see significant upgrades and reinforcements to the first team squad ahead of next season. Fans should be pleased to hear this, and the direction of the club in the near future.
The squad will need some serious additions if they want to survive next season.
