Leeds United are making moves in the transfer market as they push ahead to improve a squad that finished 14th in the Premier League table.

The Whites are working on a deal to sign Harry Wilson and have offered him a huge pay rise to try and convince him to move to Elland Road on a free transfer this summer.

Leeds are also working on an ambitious move to Germany and Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Julian Brandt in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Yorkshire giants are moving ahead with an attempt to improve their midfield options and are pushing to secure a deal to sign Southampton star Shea Charles.

Southampton poised to reject a bid for Shea Charles from Leeds United

Shea Charles has emerged as one of the top options for Leeds as they push to improve their squad in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Whites have been long-term admirers of the midfielder and are now pressing forward with an attempt to take him to Elland Road in the coming weeks.

It emerged earlier today that Leeds tabled a bid worth more than £20m to convince Southampton to sell him to the Whites in the ongoing transfer window.

However, Leeds are set to fail with their bid as, according to the Daily Echo, the Saints will not sell him for a deal worth £20m.

Charles only has a year left on his contract at St. Mary’s. However, Southampton value him at a higher level and want more money.

It has also been claimed that negotiations between Leeds and Southampton are still at an early stage, and no agreement is in sight.

The Saints are prepared to sell Charles, but want far more money before agreeing to let him go this summer.

How much are Leeds prepared to pay?

Leeds would not have expected Southampton to accept their initial offer, and the ongoing talks between the two clubs suggest that the Whites are keen to negotiate further.

However, Leeds definitely have a threshold and would not want to overpay for a player who wants to leave Southampton and has a year left on his contract.

The club are also working under a tighter budget, and may not want to overpay for Charles, given the midfield options they already have in the squad.

Leeds are keen to sign him and negotiations are still ongoing. However, at some point they will walk away if the Saints get unreasonble with their financial demands.
