Leeds United offered chance to sign England’s future No. 1 — but it’s not James Trafford

Daniel Farke urged the Leeds United ownership to show ambition in this summer window. The German boss has made it clear that he wants to stay at Elland Road long term.

But that will depend on how far the 49ers are willing to invest and improve the team.

Leeds and Farke will hold contract talks between now and next summer when his contract expires. Nothing has been confirmed, but Farke is open to staying with the club.

The 49ers have done a good job in the transfer market so far.

They brought in highly sought after free agent Harry Wilson on a free transfer, beating out clubs like Everton and Aston Villa. Leeds also wrapped up a £43 million deal for Tarik Muharemovic

Leeds United offered the chance to sign England keeper

So far, the club have yet to bring in another goalkeeper this summer.

Leeds United lost Karl Darlow to Manchester United, and currently have Lucas Perri and Alex Cairns under contract. Perri has been strongly linked with a move away just days into pre-season.

But the Whites may have been handed a lifeline according to reports.

TEAMtalk are claiming that Brighton have offered Carl Rushworth to multiple clubs including Newcastle United and Leeds United. Rushworth was on loan at Coventry City last season where he helped them clinch promotion.

Rushworth is not keen on staying at Brighton, who are fixed on Verbruggen as number one. The former England U21 keeper refuses to sign a new contract.

Which is why the Premier League club are keen to move him this summer.

Getting a decent fee for Rushworth is better than losing him for cheap when he is close to the end of his contract for Brighton.

The latest on James Trafford

Despite not playing much in recent seasons, Rushworth is highly rated among the England ranks.

However, Leeds may have their focus on a current England international; James Trafford. The Three Lions will wrap up their World Cup campaign this weekend, and the 23-year old will return to Manchester City.

He is yet to decide on his future under new boss Enzo Maresca.

Graham Smyth has said that Leeds are patiently waiting on a move if Trafford decides to leave this summer. They will not be the only Premier League club interested, as Newcastle are also keen on him.
