This Leeds United stat will leave Liverpool fans stunned and annoyed

Dominic Calvert-Lewin struck in stoppage time to give Leeds United a dramatic 1-0 win over Brighton at Elland Road on Sunday.

In their final home match of the season, Leeds produced the perfect ending for the supporters, with Calvert-Lewin’s late goal sparking wild celebrations around the stadium.

The three points took Leeds to 13th in the Premier League table, and they now have a chance to finish as high as 11th if results go their way on the final day of the season.

However, there is one aspect of Leeds United’s season that will really annoy Liverpool fans, who are fuming after another defeat against Aston Villa on Friday night.

A Leeds stat that puts Liverpool to shame

When Leeds were promoted to the Premier League last season, they started the ongoing campaign as one of the outright favourites to get relegated.

Daniel Farke faced plenty of doubts over whether he could keep Leeds in the Premier League because of his poor record in the top flight during his time at Norwich City.

However, Farke and Leeds have proved everyone wrong, and their performances this season are set to put Liverpool to shame.

The Reds won the Premier League on a canter last season. However, they are just about holding on to Champions League qualification and have lost 12 times in the league this term.

It is the same number of defeats that Leeds have suffered in the Premier League in the 2025/26 campaign.

Remarkably, the reigning champions and a newly promoted side have suffered the same number of league defeats this season.

This shows how much Leeds have defied expectations this term, but also displays how poor Liverpool have been as champions this year.

The Reds failed to beat Farke’s side this season

The two performances against Liverpool showed why Leeds have survived in the Premier League this season with games to spare.

Liverpool’s trip to Anfield was a banger of a game, which saw the two teams play out a barnstorming 3-3 draw that thoroughly entertained the crowd.

Ao Tanaka’s 95th-minute strike helped Leeds to win that point and showed the grit and determination of Farke’s side against the reigning champions.

Just a little less than a month later, Leeds visited Anfield and produced another gritty performance to leave with a point following a 0-0 draw.
