West Ham lost to Newcastle this weekend, and their future in the Premier League looks bleak. The Hammers will be hoping that Spurs do not get a result midweek.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side would have been glad that Tottenham were not able to beat Leeds last Monday. Daniel Farke’s side managed a draw after their place in the league was secured.

Spurs face Chelsea midweek, with the chance to go five points clear, sealing their place in the top flight next season.

The Hammers will have to wait to find out what happens on Tuesday night to discover their fate head of the final day of the season. Nuno’s side have lost their last three league games in a row.

West Ham boss makes admission ahead of Leeds clash

Next weekend, the Hammers face Leeds United on the final day of the season. In their loss to Newcastle on Sunday, the away fans were not pleased with the team and made their frustrations clear.

“It hurts a lot (hearing the fans chant that),” the West Ham boss said in his post-match press conference.

“This is our job, this is our life but the fans are right. Today they showed their anger and frustration, and they have reasons to do it.

“But it hurt the boys, it hurts us, and it hurts the club. That’s why I think this week we should finish the season with dignity and respect for the fans.”

Their last game of the season is at home to Leeds, which could be a huge one if Spurs fail to get a result on Tuesday night. Ahead of the game, Nuno Espirito Santo is adamant that ‘anything is possible’.

“This week we should do better, so we can show at the London Stadium, to our fans, a different performance, a different attitude in terms of the game.

“Anything is possible, let’s wait for Tuesday.

“Even though it’s difficult, we’re still alive, let’s see. There’s some hope, but more than anything is respect.

“Let’s prepare ourselves and show a better performance. This is what our fans deserve.”

Daniel Farke’s side must avoid complacency

West Ham could be relegated by the time both teams meet on the final day of the season. But just like the Whites putting in a fight to beat Brighton at Elland Road, the Hammers will want to end the season on a high.

Nuno’s men will love to give the fans a great send off at the end of the campaign, and Leeds will not have it easy.

This Leeds team have the opportunity to cap off a great season by finishing with maximum points, and they must take that chance. They are unbeaten against the Hammers this season, so they can easily get a result on the final day.
