Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has been great since he took over the club years ago. But fans still have their criticisms of him from time to time.
At the start of this season, the Whites struggled a bit and were inconsistent in their results. Months into the season saw Farke try different tactics and team selections to keep the team competitive.
He found a solution; changing the team shape which made a big difference. Leeds’ unbeaten run entering the New Year has played a huge part of them staying up.
Farke found a way to balance team selections and his tactics, which lead to them getting the necessary results to survive. He has done an incredible job this season, and should be rewarded for the work done.
Leeds United to make huge club decision
On Sunday, Leeds United recorded a huge win in their final home game of the season. Fabian Hurzeler’s side were favourites coming into the game, with everyone expecting them to win.
However, the Whites put up a strong fight during the 90 minutes at Elland Road. Leeds managed to hold off the away side for over 90 minutes, before Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the late winner in added time.
A big part of the win on Sunday was the performance of Karl Darlow. The veteran pulled off seven saves, including an incredible stop to deny Pascal Gross in the first half.
Darlow has won Daniel Farke’s trust since the start of the year, benching big money signing Lucas Perri. Since the 35-year old took on the starting role, the team have massively improved and have survived relegation. This will be key in making a decision on his future this summer.

Karl Darlow deserves a new contract
Karl Darlow is out of contract in the coming months, and there has been no update on his future. Daniel Farke did however, point that the team will address contract decisions at the end of the season.
And with his performances this campaign, it makes sense to reward him with a new contract. He has proved himself to be a firm starter over the last two seasons, and the fans are behind him.
Getting a new keeper who is an upgrade on Darlow will be expensive, so the sensible choice will be to give the Welshman a new contract. If not even as a starter, he will be a dependable backup for Daniel Farke.
The 49ers must make the right decision in the coming months when it comes to the club’s number one.
