Leeds United are expected to get their summer transfer window going with the announcement of Harry Wilson’s arrival on a free transfer this week.
The Whites have already sold Pascal Struijk and are fighting to keep Gabriel Gudmundsson at Elland Road amid interest from several clubs, including Chelsea.
However, Leeds are also working on a deal to sign Southampton’s Shea Charles, and are closing in on a move to secure the signature of Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Nico Elvedi.
Leeds are also in the market for a goalkeeper and have their eyes on Parma’s Zion Suzuki. The Italian club are ready to cash in on him after a strong World Cup.
Selling Zion Suzuki is a priority for Parma
Leeds have been working on a deal to sign Zion Suzuki from Parma this summer, and reportedly have a verbal agreement in place with the goalkeeper.
Aston Villa are also interested in the Japanese goalkeeper. However, Leeds are in pole position to sign him after working hard behind the scenes to set up a deal.
They are also receiving encouragement from Parma this summer. According to Tutto Mercato, selling Suzuki is one of their priorities for the transfer window.
Parma are looking to raise funds through player sales, and they are waiting to cash in on his World Cup performances in the ongoing transfer window.
The Serie A club have slapped a £26m asking price on the goalkeeper and are waiting for the clubs to table suitable offers for him this summer.
Juventus have also been interested in Suzuki. However, the Italian club have baulked at Parma’s price tag and are unlikely to sign him.
He is worth the hype
Japan’s World Cup campaign came to a heartbreaking end last week as Brazil struck deep into stoppage time to snatch a dramatic winner.
Despite the defeat, Zion Suzuki produced one of the standout goalkeeping performances of the tournament. The Parma shot-stopper made a string of superb saves, showing exactly why he is attracting so much interest ahead of the summer transfer window.
He set the tone in the first half with an outstanding stop to deny Matheus Cunha and was equally impressive with his command of the penalty area, regularly coming off his line to claim crosses and deal with danger before it developed.
“This is quality in a nutshell!”🙌

His best save came after the break when he somehow kept out what looked a certain goal from Vinicius Junior. It was a stunning piece of goalkeeping that will surely feature among the tournament’s most memorable moments.
Performances of that calibre explain why Leeds United have identified the Japan international as one of their leading goalkeeper targets and are pushing hard to bring him to Elland Road.
