After a successful season on their return to the top flight, Leeds United are now looking to cement their place. The club will do everything possible to remain a consistent force in the league.
The club’s ownership splashed over £100 million on transfers to improve the team last season.
This summer will take a similar level of investment if the Whites want to secure another season of top flight football at Elland Road.
Leeds have made a lot of high profile signings since last year. Their recruitment team have switched their focus to signing top players from across Europe on respectable fees.
The Leeds project has been very convincing to the likes of Ethan Ampadu, Anton Stach and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Former Liverpool man warns England star over Leeds United switch
There were some critics who criticized Calvert-Lewin’s switch to Elland Road last year.
But the striker proved his doubters wrong and had an excellent campaign that saw him make his return to the England setup. Now, Leeds United are after a current England star.
James Trafford is their next major target as the club pursue a new goalkeeper.
Talks are underway and a move is expected to be completed soon after the 23-year old agreed to join the club.
Former Manchester City and Liverpool goalkeeper David James has warned Trafford over joining Leeds, advising him to stay with Enzo Maresca’s side.
“So first of all, stay at the club. You’re not going to get much bigger than Manchester City. Well, actually, you’re not going to get as successful as Man City over the last five or six years.” James told Grosvenor Sport.
The former England goalkeeper then added that the keeper needs regular playing time if he wants to start for the Three Lions.
“So yeah, I would stay, but if not, then he has got to be playing to get that England number one spot.”

James is wrong about this issue
David James needs to acknowledge the facts in front of him.
Manchester City are not getting rid of Gianluigi Donnarumma anytime soon, so James Trafford would be the backup keeper. That would limit him to domestic cup games just like last season.
Trafford needs to play, and he sees Leeds as the perfect destination for him.
The 49ers have been pursuing a long-term solution for their goalkeeping situation, and one has emerged this week.
So the transfer is now about success or money, it is purely a footballing decision between two parties that will benefit each other long term.

No one ever suggested Man City would be as succesful as they were until they broke every rule possible and made it happen. We are now moving towards a stable and hopefully sucessful future – Trafford can play a part in that.
A move to Leeds United is the best step James Trafford could make. Considering the financial restraints the club had compared with established Premiership clubs and still survived – this is a progressive club. He will have the opportunity to develop further before Leeds step into the Champions League area. As for David James – who is he now?
