”I am going to give my all for this club” – 49ers mistake comes back to embarrass Leeds United in first interview since exit

Jack Harrison Leeds United

The January transfer window has become very active at Leeds United over the past week. Before that it seemed like the Whites were going to have a very quiet winter window like last year.

Leeds landed Facundo Buonanotte on loan for the rest of the season; the deal was completed very quickly due to interest from both parties. Graham Smyth revealed that the player and club met in December. The midfielder pushed for the move as he knows he can be a key part of the first team at Elland Road.

And in a surprising turn of events, Jack Harrison left on loan to Fiorentina. Leeds negotiated an option to buy in the loan deal for around £6 million at the end of the season.

Jack Harrison shades Leeds United in first interview since exit

In Jack Harrison’s first day at Fiorentina, he had some very interesting comments in the interview. When asked about if he was happy to join the Serie A club, he answered:

”Absolutely, yeah. It is a beautiful place to be and it is a new experience for me.”

”I’ve always had an open mind and I am very excited to be here”

The winger was then asked about his new coach and teammates.

”Yeah just brief interactions with the coach. He seems like a good guy, I have heard things about him on the pitch. Everybody has been really nice and really welcoming.”

And then the 29-year old had this final message for the fans, promising to give his all for the team:

”I’m gonna work on my Italian, I am looking forward to embracing the culture and everything about the club. I am gonna give my all for this club and hopefully we get back to winning ways and make our way up the table.”

Move is embarrassing for the 49ers

There are no words to describe how bad a look the Harrison transfer is on Daniel Farke and the ownership. Farke made the decision to bring him back and reintegrate him into the first team. His experience was supposed to be key for the Whites as the season went on, but he was barely good enough to make a starting lineup.

And now, in the middle of the season, Harrison has left the club. Reports claimed that the winger pushed for the move in the initial stages. His spot in the team could have been given to someone else who would have been of use to Leeds United. And the worst part is there is no obligation to buy, which means he could return from his loan in the summer and still be on the club’s wage books.

This story tally misrepresents the reality. Harrison had two indifferent spells at Everton, high wages, and an excessively long contract. All that made it impossible to sell him last summer. Another loan may have worked but did anyone want him? Farke gave him a shot primarily because that was the only practical option but yet again Harrison failed to impress.he is undoubtedly a liability but that is essentially the fault of Orta and his crazy contracts.
