Weeks ago, Leeds United were heavily linked with Sporting CP midfielder Hidemasa Morita. The Japanese international had reportedly been a long-term target of the club.
But Graham Smyth of the YEP revealed that the club had no knowledge of any talks or a possible deal for Morita. The midfielder’s contract with the Portuguese contract expires this summer.
In that same report from club sources, it was heavily implied that Leeds United would likely complete any transfers after the World Cup. During this period, most clubs are unwilling to negotiate sales.
This is to bet on their players performing at the World Cup to increase their price tag. Sometimes, it works and sometimes it backfires.
July is when the transfer market will burst into life, at the end of this summer’s showcase.
Leeds United plot ambitious move for World Cup-bound midfielder
Even with possible deals set to be completed by July, transfer targets will be identified in the coming weeks.
Leeds United have secured another season in the Premier League and will have to prepare ahead of next season. Daniel Farke has already called out the ownership to back the club in the transfer market.
According to the Daily Mail, Leeds United are one of the many European clubs interested in Charleroi midfielder Yacine Titraoui. The 22-year old is part of Algeria’s squad for the World Cup.
He scored five goals in 37 appearances last season from midfield.
Titraoui fits the mould of midfield players that Leeds have been recruiting over the last year. Anton Stach was a brilliant signing, while Sean Longstaff was also a huge contributor this past season.
Sunderland, Marseille and Hull City are also said to be monitoring the midfielder’s situation. Yacine Titraoui is said to be valued around £10 million by the Belgian club.

Leeds need to do more this summer
This summer, Leeds United will not be operating like a newly promoted side.
They finished 14th and will be hoping to improve on that. And to do that, they need serious investment; so many areas on the pitch in this team need upgrades.
There could be a possibility that only one goalkeeper is under contract this summer, and the team still needs some attacking quality.
Daniel Farke has made his demands clear ahead of his contract talks. It will now be up to the 49ers to show the fans their ambition going into the next Premier League season.
