Leeds United have gone from a scattered transfer policy to a more focused, streamlined one in recent years. The club had one of their worst ever windows before the 2022/23 season.
Leeds splashed the cash on Tyler Adams, Rasmus Kristensen, Max Wober and Brenden Aaronson among others. Three years on and the only player who remains a positive to the first team is Aaronson.
The rest have either left the club on permanent or temporary deals.
In recent years, the Whites have done much better in the transfer market. They lost Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Archie Gray, but still managed to win promotion.
This was due to some key signings like Ao Tanaka, Ethan Ampadu and Joel Piroe in that time span.
Leeds United star makes top Premier League ranking
Leeds United splashed the cash this past summer, bringing in quality players from around Europe. The Whites spent £100 million on 10 new players in the first team.
Daniel Farke was backed, ending up with quality starters like Jaka Bijol, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Anton Stach and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Many fans thought Leeds would miss Junior Firpo, but Gudmundsson has been a solid replacement. Bijol has also become a solid fixture in the first team.
Anton Stach played so well this past season that he earned a return to the German national team fold.
But the best player the club signed this past summer is Dominic Calvert-Lewin. And The Athletic seem to agree, ranking the striker as the fourth best signing in the Premier League this season.
”A free signing, albeit on mega-wages with the club valuing him as something like a £20million-plus investment all in, but boy, was he worth it.” an excerpt from the article read.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been a revelation this season
You can argue Ethan Ampadu has been the heartbeat of the team, and has proven to be a quality Premier League player.
Anton Stach also deserves a mention for how well he has done in his first season in England. But in a competition like the Premier League, goals win games.
And Dominic Calvert-Lewin ended the last campaign with 15 goals with 14 of them coming in the league.
This pushed Leeds to survival, and a place in the FA Cup semi-final. And the team got all this from a player who arrived on a free transfer. Value for money, the striker has been a successful signing.
