Daniel Farke’s Leeds United contract remains one of the most discussed topics around Elland Road recently. The Whites have reportedly held talks, but nothing has come of it.

Rumours speculated that the club could make an announcement during the international break, but that is unlikely to remain the case.

Farke is said to be happy in his role at the club, and the hierarchy are ready to keep him long term. At the end of last season, the German implied that his stay at the club will depend on the ownership’s ambition.

He referenced Leeds’ second season in the Premier League under Bielsa when the club failed to back him, and the Argentine left during the season.

But this summer, the club have done well to back Farke in the market.

Leeds have added some very important players in the spine of the team including James Trafford and Tarik Muharemovic.

When Bielsa left Leeds United, there was the feeling that someone really special would need to fill his shoes to keep the club upright.

And after many failed attempts to replace the Argentine, the club eventually got relegated.

Farke took over three years ago and has done and incredible job since then. Many have tagged the German as a coach who is not ‘Premier League level’ but he has taken the chance and proven his worth.

His successor could be well on his way; Pablo Hernandez has hinted that a future coaching Leeds may be on the cards. In 2021, when he was still playing, he spoke about a return to Elland Road as a coach.

“The clubs that are so important to me would be a dream [to manage].”

“Now that I’ve come home, I continue to receive that affection and I get hundreds of messages after every game from Leeds fans who follow Castellón.

“For me, it is a source of pride and I am very grateful because I have felt very loved there.

“There were five years [at Leeds] where I felt very loved, very important.”

How good is Pablo Hernandez?

The former Leeds man went into coaching straight after he hanged his boots.

He was initially in charge of Castellon’s B side, where he lead them to a league title. Last season, Hernandez guided the Castellon first team out of trouble as they avoided relegation.

The 41-year old did this as a caretake manager, and earned a permanent role.

This season, Castellon are unbeaten and sit top of La Liga 2. Marca have reported on the coach, saying that his style has been heavily influenced by former Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa.

His work has been noticed by some teams in La Liga, but Hernandez has said that Leeds is his ‘home away from home’ and that he has dreams of managing the Premier League.

Fans should keep an eye out on him as he may very well end up in the dugout in the near future.
