Upon their return to the Premier League, the Leeds United recruitment team had their work cut out for them. They had to revamp a squad that was put together over a few seasons in the Championship.
The ownership and Daniel Farke knew what had to be done – and that is the reason why £100 million was spent on 10 new players.
Bringing in serious quality into the first team went a long way into helping the team survive relegation this year. Anton Stach was essential, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goal carried the team.
Players like James Justin and Lukas Nmecha provided serious depth as the season progressed.
Going into another season, the recruitment might be even more difficult.
Leeds United transfer plans revealed after latest news
Leeds United have the difficult task of improving upon the team that finished 14th on their return to the Premier League. Everyone at the club knows that next season will be even more difficult.
It was revealed last summer that the recruitment team focused on experienced players with quality from the top leagues in Europe.
There was also emphasis on physicality, with most of the signings having the desired attributes to play in English football.
The Football Insider have revealed that Leeds have tailored their transfer plan going into this summer. This news comes after the Whites decided against pursuing a move for Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz.
Per the report, the club will now look towards younger players with more potential.

New transfer plan makes sense for the future
If what is being reported is true, then Leeds United are making the right choice for the future. Targeting younger players who can go straight into the first team is a sensible plan.
Splashing cash on players who might just give you one or two seasons is not a very wise decision.
Bringing in younger players means that they will be with the team for longer. And they have the added benefit of being very valuable assets to sell if they play well enough to attract buyers.
Leeds have done this successfully in recent years; the club brought in Pascal Struijk and Crysencio Summerville at a young age.
They came up through the ranks, and played for the U21s before becoming starters. As of the coming summer window, the club could end up making a huge profit off both players.
